Passarelli Marcello

Marcello Passarelli holds a PhD in Psychology, Anthropology, and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Genoa. He has been with CNR-ITD since 2017, first as a research fellow and, since 2022, as a full-time researcher. His primary research interests lie in statistical modeling and social cognition, with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods. In 2018, he was a visiting scholar at Coventry University and again in 2022 at Sofia University.

At CNR-ITD, his research has predominantly focused on game-based learning, video games, and gamification. He has participated in several international research projects, including Gaming Horizons—a Horizon 2020 project that investigated the impact of games and gamification from educational, psychological, and ethical perspectives—and PLEIADE, an Erasmus+ project coordinated by CNR-ITD that aimed to promote social inclusion in children through learning design and gamification.

He has authored ~30 peer-reviewed journal publications in the fields of psychology and education. Marcello also maintains an active collaboration with the University of Genoa, where he serves as an adjunct professor, teaching data collection and statistical software to both undergraduate and PhD students.
