Flavio Manganello (CNR-ITD), together with coauthors Luca Mastrangelo (Capgemini) and Giannangelo Boccuzzi (CNR-ITD, University of Bologna), have won the Best Presentation Award at ICOAI 2026 - the 13th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence held in Paris this September. Manganello presented the paper, titled “ITAVERSO: A Behavior-First Framework for RIASEC-Based Academic Orientation through Metaverse Game Analytics and K-Nearest Neighbors Collaborative Filtering”.

ITAVERSO analyses students’ behaviour across three immersive worlds of a gamified metaverse in as a way to infer vocational interest profiles. This in an innovative  alternative to standard self-report questionnaires. The platform was developed as part of the ITAVER5O project (MIMIT, Development and Cohesion Fund) and is being used in vocational orientation activities in Italian upper-secondary schools.

More details, including detailed description of the adopted methodology, will appear in the ACM International Conference Proceedings Series.
