In many countries, assistant teachers play a crucial role in fostering inclusive education by supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The job is emotionally demanding and beset by a number of challenges, often leading to burnout. This study looks at the risk and protective factors involved via a survey of over 850 school assistants working in K-12 settings in Italy.
