On 24-25 March 2026, the SCHOOLWISE project - Building Data Wisdom and Governance in Schools – was officially launched at the kick-off meeting in Santa Margherita Ligure (Italy).

The project's mission is to address fragmentation of educational data management practices across Europe, promoting an integrated approach to data literacy in schools. SCHOOLWISE will develop a European competency framework for educational data literacy (SEDaL-F), an ethical data governance model compliant with GDPR and the AI Act, and open-source operational tools to support evidence-based decision-making.

SCHOOLWISE is an Erasmus+ Forward-Looking Project under Topic 8 - Data Exchange in Education (GA 101259617). It is coordinated by the Institute for Educational Technology at CNR, Italy (CNR-ITD). Its principal investigator is CNR-ITD’s Flavio Manganello.

The kick-off meeting marked the official commencement of project activities, with the consortium’s European partners joining together to consolidate the work plan and initial research and development actions. SCHOOLWISE will feature pilot activities involving schools in four European countries. This will contribute to formulation of shared models for the collection, analysis, and cross-border exchange of educational data.
All together, the SCHOOLWISE consortium comprises twelve partners from seven EU Member States, including universities, research centres, school networks, and civil society organisations. These are CNR - Institute for Educational Technology (Italy, coordinator); Technische Universitat Dresden (Germany); Technische Universitat Graz (Austria); UC Limburg (Belgium); University of Bologna (Italy); Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain); Privanova (France); European School Heads Association - ESHA (The Netherlands); Projects for Europe (Belgium); NEST Berlin (Germany); Istituto Comprensivo Fratelli Cervi School (Italy), Escola Pia de Catalunya School (Spain).
