Artificial Intelligence - Memory Early Monitoring

ITD reference office: Genoa

The AI-MEMO project aims to create an innovative system for monitoring cognitive fragility in elderly people through the analysis of urban mobility, cognitive skills and mood data. Through the most innovative Cloud technologies, the AI-MEMO platform collects data from smartphone apps related to mobility, mood, cognitive abilities. The apps, available for IOS and Android, collect data in two main areas:

  • mobility, evaluated using measures such as the walked distance in a day, the average speed, the standard routes and the deviations from them;
  • cognitive skills, through specific software to measure reaction times for simple activities or attentional shifting, or evaluate the learning of a text or the ability in visuo-spatial tasks

The collected data is processed through Machine Learning algorithms, to identify patterns of functionality indicative of a possible cognitive decline: the algorithms compare the measures in subjects without pathology with those of a group of subjects diagnosed at a specialized centre. The analyses make it also possible to monitor the trend over time of the various indices individually and in different groups.
