Purpose
The Logivali Project started from a twofold requirement: to define protocols and methodologies in order to support pedagogical use of mind games and to understand cognitive abilities involved in their solution.
Objectives
The project has the principal objective of developing evaluation tools to support comprehension and evaluation of logical and strategic reasoning abilities of children attending primary school. These are considered independent from mathematical abilities.
Project phases:
The project is organized in the following three phases:
- Phase I: Tool preparation: selection of digital games and creation of support material for administering and evaluation.
- Phase II: Testing, with a sample of over 500 school children, of tools for evaluation of cognitive abilities
- Phase III: Analysis of test results and subsequent calibration of the evaluative tools developed. Development of digital tools for collecting and analysing test results and protocols.
Results:
- A development methodology for utilizing digital games in the primary school
- Test Battery Standardization to evaluate logical and strategic reasoning abilities to be used in the IV and V classes of primary school
