MAking Games In CollaborAtion for Learning

MAGICAL (Making Games in Collaboration for Learning) aims at exploring the potential that digital games offer for developing students’ transversal abilities such as digital competence, reasoning skills and creativity.

The project adopts (and aims at testing) an innovative ‘learning by doing’ approach to Game-Based Learning that encourages students not just to play educational games but rather to create their own digital games by collaborating in groups. In the framework of MAGICAL, learners in primary and secondary schools (including those with learning difficulties) work together using dedicated “game building” environments with specific features that support collaborative authoring processes; specific courses for teachers and educators are also designed and conducted so to enable them to support and sustain classroom activities.

The European Commission has selected the MAGICAL project, coordinated by ITD-CNR, among the Success Stories and Good Practices emerging from the Erasmus+ programme.
