Vocation Education of Visually Impaired People via Distance Education

The project was funded by the European Commission within the National Lifelong Learning, Leonardo Da Vinci (2010-2012).
Objectives
Main objectives of the project are Increasing opportunities and quality of vocational training for visually impaired individuals, in particular women and transfer of a learning management system (LMS) that is suitable for the use of visually impaired individuals that is unavailable in Turkey and translation of this software into English, Turkish, Italian and German.  In particular, project general objectives are: to support participants in training and further training activities in the acquisition and the use of knowledge, skills and qualifications to facilitate personal development, employability and participation in the European labour market; to support improvements in quality and innovation in vocational education and training systems, institutions and practices; to enhance the attractiveness of vocational education and training and mobility for employers and individuals and to facilitate the mobility of working trainees.
Workplan
The role of the CNR ITD in this project is: designing and developing a  multimodal interface to allow visual impaired students to access the VODIE platform using a mobile technologies; transfer the VODIE platform in Italy; Organizing an International Symposium on Mobile Learning for Visually Impaired People.
Expected results
